Help withi virus protection please?

How do I download an anti virus systen on to my laptop I have windows vista and purchased norton anti virus protection via a CD..I have had no luck downloading this software and am trying to find an alternative..any suggestions please?

apart from the many free anti-virus downloads avalible on the web,you can allways get many free anti-virus programs from magazines,most popular magazines including pc advisor and computer shopper have a free anti-virus software in every issue,infact pc advisor have the latest version of the popular anti-virus "a.v.g" in every issue

personally i would steer clear of any norton products,they use massive amounts of system resources(ram) and are sometimes difficult to remove when no longer wanted

a good free anti-virus and the one i have used for the last 18 months is "bit defender free" from http://www.bitdefender.fr/PRODUCT-14-en-...

this is a very good anti-virus and uses very little memory and resources,its also vista compatible

from reference the other vista compatible anti-virus software is 1)a.v.g 2)avast 4.7 3)avira anti-virus
