I have an anti-virus software but doesn't seem to be helping in getting rid of this crap. Please help

My computer keeps getting pop ups and it says something about malware, any suggestions on getting rid of this?nortin

If you have a problem with pop ups it means you have spy-wares or malwares that they have infected your computer.

Install ''Ad-aware 2007'' or another anti-spy-ware program.

My computer keeps getting pop ups and it says something about malware, any suggestions on getting rid of this?pc security

do you have a popupblocker turned on in your browser?if so, you need to use a reliable spy ware removal program, counterspy is a good one and you can get it free for 30 days but is well worth the investment when you do have to pay for it
Pop-ups are mostly caused by ad ware, spy ware, and other malicious and unwanted software.

can help you detect and eliminate all spy ware /virus /ad ware /Trojans completely.
That is smitfraud...Get smitfraudfix by looking on google...or download.com Good luck!
Do not download or buy anything the pop ups are telling you because they are trying to scam you. Download Rogue Remover to scan to computer for rogue applications and remove everything it finds.

Is there a company that is NOT using the ';green'; thing as a marketing ploy?

Is there a company that is NOT using the ''green'' thing as a marketing ploy?

I just got an email from Symantec that said ''Go Green with Norton and save.'' Uh, what does anti-virus software have to do with the environment?

Is there a company that is NOT using the ''green'' thing as a marketing ploy?norton 360

What's especially annoying is that there is no clear standards for ''green.'' It might mean that it doesn't harm the environment, but it could also mean that it doesn't harm the environment as much as something else. It could also mean that the company manufacturing the ''green'' product uses recycled plastic garbage bags in its corporate office, thus saving the environment...

Is there a company that is NOT using the ''green'' thing as a marketing ploy?photoshop

You have some very good answers here.

I agree that the Green movement seems to be a bit trendy at the moment and that there is not clear definition or standard as to what constitutes ''green practices.''

Like ''Made in America'', the Green concept will enjoys its heyday as a marketing ploy until the next big idea comes along to supplant it.

If I were you, I'd contact Symantec and ask them how they justifiy their message to you. I'd love to hear how they respond to you. Congratulations for keeping them on their toes.
Not talking specifically about anyones product but if a 'fad' is saving the environment as opposed to destroying it... I personally don't care if they market themselves as 'green'. I hope every company gets on this band wagon and rides it as long as possible.
As long as people respond to ''green'', marketers will use it. Periodically, you see ''Made in America'' campaigns. Fads come and go, although ''green'' may be a particularly long-lived fad.

Can't view videos on You Tube?

Never had any issues in the past - the only thing different is I now have avast as my anti virus software as opposed to norton.

I can go into the site, and see video thumbnails but when I click on a video to watch it comes up with a blank space - all comments etc can be seen etc, so screen looks normal apart fromblank space where video should be. Not trying to look at anything dodgy so no reason for any block etc.

BTW I can view videos etc on other sites eg. newpapers bbc etc

Any help greatfully appreciated!

Thanks

How to install AVG without uninstalling norton??

so norton expired, I need to install a new anti-virus software that works....? AVG requries to unintall norton first, but can i just disable norton without unintalling it?

How to install AVG without uninstalling norton??norton antivirus 2007

From everything I've ever read about Norton, it's unlikely that it will let you get away with simply disabling it. Heck, it doesn't even want to cooperate with another antivirus when you do a conventional uninstall... you often have to use the Norton Removal Tool!

How to install AVG without uninstalling norton??product key

You can't , they interfere with each other if you install both thats why program won't let install it. Just uninstall norton. A virus program that gets updates is better than a virus program that doesn't get updates.

P.S.- you'll love how your computer runs after you uninstall Norton.
That is the result of softwre conflict, if you wanna more than one antivirus in your system it may slower down. In my view you should uninstall nortan first than install AVG. After this upgrade the virus data base from internet.

Happy Computing..........
Norton is worthless...I know...lost two pc's with it.AVG is great stuff,,,had for a few years,,,nothing gets through it.
if you want 2 antivirus at one time, use avg and avira. i've been using them in my laptop for almost 6 months now. not have to worry about virus anymore.

  • I am having trouble with pulling up the Vampirefreaks.com website.?

I signed up for an account. Then today when I tried to check it I entered the wrong password, when I went to fix it the webpage no longer came up. I am not having trouble with ANY other site. When I type the address into the browser it takes a long time to react, then it reroutes me to Google with links for the site, when I click that, it tells me ''Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage''. I do not have anti-virus software, and my brother just did a recovery on his computer. I was having some issues viewing the site prior but at least I could view it before. Would this be something wrong from my end? Or does the site have an issue? Thanks for your help! ^^

What does it mean when a balloon just popped up in my bottom right taskbar saying my virtual memory

What does it mean when a balloon just popped up in my bottom right taskbar saying my virtual memory is low?norton ghost

First uninstall Norton's, it's a scar on your computer. Get something free like Avast, AVG, and/or Windows Defender.

Now, to adjust your virtual memory:

    go to control panel:

System, Advanced, Performance Settings, Advanced, Virtual Memory

You can now adjust your virtual memory. Move it up just a little bit. The best thing to do, though, would be to not use as many programs at once. That's what eating up your memory.

What does it mean when a balloon just popped up in my bottom right taskbar saying my virtual memory is low?software

Ususally it means that there are too many items starting up when you start your computer. Check your tray (over by the clock) and change when the program starts.
Sounds like it might be time to run your defrag program. After I did that I had 1/3 more memory on my laptop.
    Hello:

Virtual memory is your memory paging file. That's the file is uses to extend your physical RAM. It's usually called ''pagefile.sys'' and is located, normally, at the root of your system drive.

If i switch back to my old one which is just a modem with output for 1 computer it will let me host, but i need the wireless router cuz there are more computers in the house, but it wont let me host. i think its cuz theres some security on the router that is stopping me. so i need to turn it off. i have a windows firewall and stuff on my computer along with my own anti virus software and i have made sure that they make excetpions for halo, its only when i hook up the router that i have problems, so how do i fix it. help me out im stressing out here.

I need to turn off my routers security of something.....?noton

    Microsoft has some tips:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829469

I do not know your router interface but these ports need to be un-blocked to play:

By default, Halo connects to the Internet through the following ports: 鈥?80 (Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)) 鈥?Auto-update looks for and downloads updates through this port.

鈥?2302 (User Datagram Protocol (UDP)) - Game host listens on this port.

鈥?2303 (UDP) - Game client connects to host through this port.

    Hope that helps

I need to turn off my routers security of something.....?stinger

By unblocked, he means that you need to enable those ports in the port forwarding section of your router interface, which can likely be accessed by typing in your gateway ip address into your web browser's address bar.

The is not uncommon when you are connected to the net because other services will use you connection opportunity to silently update an perform other actions. You should cut down on the amount of services running in the background. Here is how.

Karz is right on. You can google each process name and learn something about it. It can tell you if its malware or a virus or a kosher process. You can also make note of how much ramm its eating up. I found that many processes were involved with my Panda AV. It ate up so much ramm I didn't renew my AV with them and tried Computer Associates and it when from something like 550mb total used upon a fresh boot to about 330mb. Nice eh,...especially since I only had 512 and it was shared with the video ramm.
i it's the RAM you mean, you can buy a chip or two and plug into the motherboard, that helps. The main reason is that windows has some strange ways to organize its memory, and it does not organize it wery effectivly. Furthermore, an antivirus program uses a LOT of memory, especialy if you got many programs in the systemtray (the lower right of your screen). and there is usally more programs running in the background that uses memory. Spyware causes this kind of problems. Get yourself a good program to get rid of those.

The best thing that helps, is to back up your data and format the harddrive and reinstall windows.
Ctrl-Alt-Del to open Task Manager. Click on Processes tab and look for the processes with your user name on it. These are the processes that you could opt to end or disable in msconfig. Your computer slows down when one or more of those processes try to ''steal'' your processor's attention while you are working on something.

Do not touch any of the system processes.

  • System restore?

does a system restore point, remove any updates from my security and anti virus software back to that restore point?

I certainly don't want to lose those updates.

    System restore?stinger

What the system restore does on your pc is that it brings your pc back to the way it was from the point that you dictate.

So if there was a Windows Update on your pc installed yesterday, and your restoring it to two days ago the update will be deleted.

But it can be gotten back if you go to the windows update site.

    System restore?virus scanner

If you do lose updates, just run the updater again. Most antivirus programs get new updates each week anyway.

Turn system restore off. It causes more problems than it solves. It hogs up hard drive space, slows down your computer as it duplicates nearly everything, then can freeze the whole computer when it doesn't get what it wants. As a better alternative, backup your important files regularly. Norton Ghost is a good program to make an image of your whole drive if you are worried about finding all your updates, etc.
The restore point will sometimes not remove your updates, if it does, manually enter to your updates to make sure your protected.
    Yes it does.
no its shouldn't remove those updates. your safe. if your nervous about it, have your software check for updates.
i believe that it does remove updates from the windows XP, but, NOT from antiviruses
it might but ive found that after restores some newer files are still there.
    Unfortunetly it does.
it depends on when u installed the updates,

like if u installed the updates on 02/02/2007 and the system restore will bring back the settings of the date 03/02/2007

then u will not lose any updates, which u installed before that date

    Phishing question?suzuki

victim of phishing would mean u access a legitimate-looking site which passes off as the actual site. thus, u login and ur info is captured by the fake site. basically, firewalls and antivirus programs won't help. only your brains can save you. however, tools are available tt can help, like IE7...which blocks commonly-known phishing sites. and no, phishing works by u believing them to be real, and not looking closely at the address bar. so they can't steal ur files.

    Phishing question?virus

Phishing usually involves someone tricking you into giving them personal information (credit card number, password, etc.) by ways of human manipulation. For example, someone could send you a fake email from a bank that asks you to send them your bank account number.

So basically, there is no software or hardware that can detect that you are being phished because they attack you by means of normal human communication ( email, fake websites, etc.) instead of using things like viruses. Just be smart, and as a rule of thumb, never give up any personal information to anyone, even if you trust them.

Try a online antivirus scanner and a online anti-adware/malware/spyware scanner in safe mode with network to clean up your computer BEFORE you download anything. This because the program you download can get infected.

To reformat your hdd is always the last option.

Disable ''System Restore'' for Windows Me and XP, then restart your PC to clean your system restore points for viruses, spyware, adware etc.

    Now restart in safe mode.

To get in safe mode Press ''F8'' upon boot up.

    Select ''Safe mode with Networking''.

    Go to Start 鈥?Run - type iexplore http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html Enter(ok).

Do a full system scan. If something is found, delete it, reboot and do the same again in safe mode with network.

When that scan does not find anything you reboot again in safe mode with network.

    Go to Start 鈥?Run 鈥?type iexplore http://www.ewido.net/en/ Enter(ok).

When powering up my computer, it takes forever to get to my desktop. Whats up?

I have a 2.6 ghz Dell computer with 1000+ MB ram. When I select my desktop from the others, it takes usually 3+ mins to load. Hard drive is running constantly and the hourglass pops on and off all the time by the cursor. Are there things I can do to speed up the loading of my desktop? I've ran the latest spyware and anti virus software. No problems there. Any help will be appreciated.

    I had the same issue.

I took mine to a shop and he told me I had a lot of little things running in the background. Only one had the potential to be harmful but there were several taking up space on the memory and making the processor run more than it needed to.

You can safely run a desktop cleanup to eliminate stuff that is on the desktop that you have not used in a long time. Those things slow a pc down a lot.

I recommend you download Spybot and Adaware. They sometimes find ads and other stuff that isn't virus so it doesn't get found by anti-virus programs but those also keep our PC's too busy. Get rid of that junk and it should run considerably faster.

When powering up my computer, it takes forever to get to my desktop. Whats up?adware remover

You have too many programs trying to run at the same time. Go to Start%26gt;Run and type in MSCONFIG. Click Startup. Uncheck all the programs that you don't need to be turned on right when your computer starts up. If you aren't sure what the program is slide the file path all the way over so you can see it all and look for familiar names. Then save the changes and restart the computer to see if it made a difference. If not then keep unchecking til you are down to the bare minimum. 1000+MB RAM is probably being pretty fired up. Also uninstall any programs that you don't really need or update them because the case is sometimes that the newer versions are smaller.
Hit Ctrl Alt Del and look at task manager to see what is trying to run. I got rid of several programs that wanted to update whenever I started up my computer, and that helped a lot. Try this link http://www.bsu.edu/techtrain/article/0,,...

    Computer help?

Well i have Windows XP. And my computer was working fine. Then it started getting MAJOR slow. I only got it last year. One day I came down to use my computer, and instead of looking like windows xp. How everything was all bubbly and stuff, it started looking like windows 95. Everything was gray and square. It wouldn't let me play music, or go on the internet or anything like that. My computers been crashing to. I don't even do anything and it crashes. Can you please help me? I'm on my dads computer but i seriously need my own. Any help please? Thank you so much. I tried to run anti-virus software, and I ran scans and it said I had no errors. I did disk refragments. Any help? This always happens to me. How can i fix it and how can I stop this from happening in the future?

Why is my computer slow? I bet you have asked yourself that very question time and time again. And for the most part, you probably just can not figure it out. Ask the guy next to you, and they probably don鈥檛 have the foggiest idea either. I mean, you may get the 鈥渟pyware鈥?answer, but this most likely is not the case.

The first place I check when my computer starts to run slower is the registry. Yes, the registry. Most people don鈥檛 even know what, or where the registry is, and especially don鈥檛 understand how this can slow a computer down. Let me explain.

For an upgrade you should have used Windows Vista Upgrade advisor to scan your system to see what if any version you can upgrade to and other information needed to do the upgrade. For AOL go to their site and download AOL 9.0 VR it can be used on XP or Vista. It also appears this copy of vista you got was not certified by Microsoft, uninstall it and whatever else you installed, you will have to reinstall your anti virus. sorry, not enough info. it depends on your OS.

if you have Vista your options are sorta limited. McAfee comes in (very slightly) ahead of Norton, and Norton is quite a bit better as far as slowing the machine down. PC World did it's test and Mcafee just edged out Norton, but it slowed the test program down from 12 seconds to 92 seconds. Norton came in at 70 some seconds. they were way ahead of the next in line.

if you've got XP or less then it's a toss up. it seems that every few weeks the order changes as to who is on top. I have used the free bee's on win2000 or older. just got a Vista machine and the free stuff would not work (even though AVG said it would) my puter came with Mcafee but I changed to Norton cause of the speed thing. I just got XP and tried the free stuff, but ended up going with my Norton cause it seemed to work better.
These products are free....and hard to beat!

sounds like it has been infected. if you have the antivirus disc place it in the pc then start it. norton will prompt you to run the disc. try starting in safe mode then put the disc in and run from disc if it doesn't prompt you the first way. you can also try http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security... free malware removal from microsoft. norton also offer online scans http://symantec.com/techsupp/home_homeof... once you have it fixed please install or turn on if already installed firewall, and update the virus definitions at least weekly. norton makes it easy click live update and just click next when it pops open.
Suggest you format your C drive, before this take a back of your important software on to your other drive, like D or on to a CD and then format C drive.

    Hi,

What I do (and always seems to work) is to right click the little icon in the bottom right of the task bar that denotes Norton anti-virus (can be either a yellow globe or a yellow disc with a stethoscope in it). Right clicking gives you the option of disabling auto-protect, which is what you want to do. You then get a warning and a changeable period of time that auto protect will stay off. As soon as you have completed your task just repeat the process and reenable, you don't have to wait for the time to run out.

I think the BT Yahoo Norton version is slightly different. I'm sure the full version (I used to have) let you switch it off from the protection centre window.

I agree with the above answers, but you might also want to determine if you are running too many programs all at once. Many of today's programs, and especially games, use a lot of RAM. Your computer can create virtual memory to allow it to run many progs all at once, but the more you are running, the slower your computer will be.

You can always increase your computer's memory by buying additional memory chips. Or try to turn off the programs that you don't really need. Sometimes I do CtrL-Alt-Delete or go to Start--Run and type services.msc and I manually shut off any programs I don't want. But that can be risky if you don't know what a program is doing, like a system program. In any case, if you don't use a program, shut it off.

You can try to clean up your disk also, throw out useless junk that is taking up memory and defragment the drives. That may not really help speed up your computer much, unless, for example, you are almost down to the bare minimum hard drive memory possible. Check by going to control panel.

Finally, are you sure your computer is running at optimal temperature? The CPU can get really hot and if a fan is underperforming, it will run hotter than normal, slowing down the CPU. Make sure the fan works, make sure the area beneath the laptop or behind the desktop is ventilated. If you have a laptop, you can buy a tablet that cools the laptop underneath. There is also a special silver compound paste that is applied to the CPU, it does a great job in dispersing heat. But these last options should be handled only by a professional, and only if you have CPU cooling issues. There is a program called Motherboard Monitor, designed for Pentiums, that tells you the CPU's temperature. Usually if you run many programs, the CPU will start to heat up, but if the fan is ok it can handle it.

You have been infected with VirusBurster trojan. It is a Smitfraud Infection and it will drive you crazy until you remove it from your computer. I will recommend doing System Restore. Go to Start %26gt; All Programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; System Tools %26gt; System Restore.

Follow the on-screen instructions to take back your computer's configuration to some previous date, when the message did not haunt you. Restart your computer. After it is done, do a complete system scan with your anti-virus(whatever you use). There are also online ways of getting rid of it, but I don't know them. Maybe someone else will say.

you probably have a virus on your computer i had the same problem with iTunes i couldnt sign in and i ended up having a virus so take it to Geek Squad or somewhere to get it fixed

Itunes Error: ';The connection to the server was refused...';?

This question has been asked multiple times, and I have read EVERY answer (also googled internet for answer: no luck), and nothing has helped me out so far. I have iTunes (v 7.3.2) and cannot connect to the iTunes store. I get the (very common, it would seem) error that reads: ''iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your netowork is active, then try again.''

Here's what I've done that has NOT worked:

    -rebooted

-re-downloaded the same version and older versions

    -uninstalled/re-installed

-cleared my DNS cache and checked settings with my isp

    -run diagnostics

-called my isp again(even though i can connect just fine to the internet)

-rebooted modem/router AND plugged directly into modem

-disabled Windows firewall (and have iTunes allowed anyway)

-there is NO Norton anywhere on my computer, nor any other anti-virus software, so it's NOT that

My computer thinks .exe files are .txt??antivirus programs

I would just reinstall Windows. If you can't reinstall it just by inserting the CD (you might get the same problem as with any other program), then do it like this:

Restart your computer, then when it's starting, press F8 repeatedly. This should bring up the system configuration gizmo...When you get there, change the system boot order (write down what's there originally, so you can change it back later). Change the boot order so that the computer checks the CD drive first, and hard drive second. Save settings and exit. This should restart the computer and open up the installation CD. Follow instructions to install/reinstall.

When that's finished and you have to restart the computer, remove the CD while the computer is restarting.

When all the installation is complete and your exe/txt problem has disappeared, restart the computer and change the boot order to what it was before (most likely Floopy, Hard drive, CD).

uninstall your current torrent client, and download one of the following clients:1)azureus,2)bittornado, 3)abc ,or 4)utorrent.

yeah uninstall it and use bitlord 1.1

free download and works fine with vista ultimate and norton anti virus 2007
If you are running your computer through a router, then it is possible that you have a hardware firewall. To get through this so that your torrent can work you need to open up ports in your router. Do a quick search on google to find out how to do this.

Type bittorrent router port open on google and you should get some good results.

My new PC crashed - blue error screen?

My computer crashed because I tried to uninstall the OEM anti virus software. I have Windows XP Media Centre Edition. Now the PC keeps starting upto the 'Welcome' screen and when logging on, it states ''starting your personal settings'' then goes off and re-starts and repeats the process. I cannot access the recovery console nor boot from the recovery CD. I only set up this PC last night. Can somebody please help advise me how I can resolve this in very simple steps? Thank you.

My new PC crashed - blue error screen?antivirus

You can try booting in safe mode. to do this you need to press a function button. it is usually f8. some times its f2, it depends on the computer. when you first turn on the computer press f8 continually ti it brings up the screen where it asks you how you want to boot. you must start pressing the button as soon as you start the computer because most of the time it will go so fast you you will miss the chance. if you do manage to boot in to safe mode. you need to try to remove the software that is causing problems for your computer. uninstall every thing that you have installed. if all this still doesn't work there could be a bad sector on the harddrive. and this is bad. theres nothing you can do with a bad sector on the harddrive except send it back.

Anyone experiencing problems with a Sony VGN-A790?

I have a 17 inch laptop Sony VAIO VGN-A790. It seems like recently it is having trouble. It's only 3 years old or so but the fan seems to constantly be running. I just discovered the battery has basically gone bad (can't keep a charge for more than 10 minutes) and there are times it appears to get real slow but then recovers. I have anti-virus software that is updated daily, spy-ware, etc. Besides getting a new computer, any suggestions on how to speed this thing up?

Sony VAIO batteries tend to be expensive - one can buy one for $200. System may also have spyware and viruses which are not detected by the security software.

  • Issue with network access on xp pc on home lan?

i have a home lan with 5 pc's, router with cable modem. all pc's are on the same subnet and the router gives each a proper ip address. i'm using a workgroup and all pc's are on the same workgroup name ''mshome''. all pc's can access the internet and ping each other.

i have one xp pc with an issue. when i look in the MY NETWORK PLACES icon and use VIEW WORKGROUP COMPUTERS, i can't see any pc's listed including this one on the network. when i share a folder in this xp pc, i still don't see any pc's. i've uninstalled all firewall and anti virus software. i've disabled windows firewall and still nothing. other pc's can see the network BUT can see this XP pc. something is blocking the VIEW WORKGROUP COMPUTERS feature.

    any ideas?

Issue with network access on xp pc on home lan?aurora

If the other computers can see you but you can't see them, something is set up differently on your problem machine. It could be something as simple as the workgroup being misspelled. Also, when you enable file sharing it turns on the Windows firewall so make sure that is still off.

Try going into your Guest account and see if you still have the problem. If you use the same name on 2 computers in the network you can cause this problem.

I have seen multiple recommendations to turn the ''simple file sharing off'' and take ownership of the shares, but I have never had much luck with that solution.

it has always been illegal to download copyrighted music. they are copyrighted materials and therefore are protected by the law. limewire is a p2p file sharing software. they are not intended to be used for piracy and other illegal acts. in other words, limewire itself is not illegal, it is the way some people use it that is.

    Hi,

Dr. Watson is a program debugger and evidently doesn't like the applications you are trying to use. To disable it you must go into the Windows registry and disable it. Go to Start, Run and type ''regedit'' without the quotes. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, scroll down to SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio... There should be an entry named Auto of the type REG_DWORD. Set the value to 0 to disable and 1 to enable. Save the file and exit. Hopefully Dr. Watson will now leave you alone.

I keep getting a DRWatson error on my PC, what is it?free spyware remobal

We had that in work. Turned out it was caused by a Trojan. We now use two Spyware programs simultaneously a catch all of these imposters. Try Macaffe or something else aswell as Norton.
Well in as much as you would have solved the problem by removing the Dr Watson program, I would suggest you remove Norton first. My experiance with Norton has been that at time it conflicts with the operating system for system resources; thereby causing the memory to be OVERWHELMED - it freezes the computer. Norton is also a disk utility program and it tries to manage resources just like an operating system. Remove it and see what happens. If that solves your problem try using another antivirus for you can surely not do without protection.

Still got that spyware problem.....?computer virus

Sorry, mcafee isnt doing the job.

This is not a problem at all. Here's what you need to do.

1st, don't waste your time with AVG, spybot, ad aware, CA, spyhunter, superantispyware, avast, mcafee, panda, kaspersky, windows defender or anything of the sort. Stay away from anything that is FREE when it comes to spyware and antivirus. There is a reason why they free. They are NOT good.

2nd, You need some of the best software out there. Norton Systemworks is very good. That's the only good software from Norton. I wouldn't recommend Norton Internet security, its not that great. Now the best software you should get is Spysweeper with Anti-virus, this software is too good and gets better everyday. This is Elite software. It blocks over 433,000 definition threats, which contain several fringerprints with each(you can do the math). No other software can compete with that or come close for that matter. It catches everything and has active shields. I've used them all and it is 2nd to none.

I checked the data cable to see if it was kinked and it's laying fine. What else could it be?

I know you probably paid for it and all but get rid of Norton and download the free antifvirus program AVG by grissoft. read up on the guy that developed it. He's more interested in stopping hackers and virus' than making money.

Norton screws up more computers than it helps. McCafe (sp?) too.

You'll probably end up having to format the c: drive and start from scratch. I've seen more people have to do this after they've installed those 2 programs than any other program out there.

Try clean install your operating system. (reformat your hard drive before installation).

If the problem persists then you should replace your hard drive. Hard drives usually have a lifetime of 5 years.
why dont you try formating the hard drive, and install the operation system all over again?
You need to replace the harddrive. Something corrupted it. The disk read error usually mean that either your hard drive controller is bad or the hard drive is bad. I would just replace the hard drive and that will more then likely fix your problem
